History of Schiller’s Negroni

The Schiller’s Negroni is a unique twist on the classic Negroni cocktail. The original Negroni was invented in Florence, Italy, in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by replacing soda water with gin. This resulted in a perfect blend of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, giving birth to the iconic Negroni.

Schiller’s Negroni pays homage to this classic by adding a personal twist, often found in various bars and restaurants. Named after the legendary Schiller’s Liquor Bar in New York City, this variation often includes a touch of innovative ingredients or a slight change in proportions, reflecting the creativity of modern mixologists while maintaining the essence of the original.

Taste Notes of Schiller’s Negroni

Schiller’s Negroni retains the robust and bitter-sweet character of the original Negroni but often features a slightly smoother and more complex flavor profile. The gin provides a botanical base, while the Campari brings in its signature bitterness and citrus notes. Sweet vermouth adds a rich, sweet, and herbaceous layer. In Schiller’s version, you might detect subtle variations, such as a hint of citrus zest or an additional botanical note, which adds depth without overpowering the classic bitterness. The result is a well-balanced cocktail that is both refreshing and intriguingly complex, making it a favorite among Negroni enthusiasts looking for a modern twist.
